The brand new GMC-P7 has a full metal case that provides the better EMC protection and screen protection. 3mm front panel with a rubber seal strip makes GMC-P7 fit the control box well, which improves the sealing and dust-proof performance. Hello, welcome to the General Measure's Channel. Today's topic is 'weighing indicator GMT-P1(TCP) communication port troubleshooting'. After watching this video, you will know how to find out the Modbus TCP connection problem.
The main causes for TCP connection are two problems; one is hardware problem:
1. Network cable connection problem.
2. The chips or circuits of the indicator are broken.
3. The external devices are broken.
Another is the communication parameter setting problem:
1. The parameter setting error.
2. The IP Address is duplicate.
Troubleshooting demonstration:
First, by connecting GMT-P1 with the network cable and the power supply, we can clearly know the network connection by checking the two indicator lights next to the network port slot.
1. Green light is on, yellow light is flashing, which means the network is connected well.
2. Both green light and yellow light are flashing, which means connection failed. We need to reconnect the cable or power off the indicator and restart it.
3. Neither green light nor yellow light is on, which means connection failed as well. In this case, the chip or circuit of network port may be broken. It is recommended to return to depot.
Then set the IP address and port number in the communication parameters of the GMT-P1; we need to set it as a unique IP that cannot be used in any other indicators. Otherwise, the connection will fail.
Open Modbus-Poll software, click Connection on the menu bar, and set IP and port on the pop-up window. The IP and port should be consistent with those specified on the indicator. Otherwise, modbus communication will fail.
If the communication is successful, it can be seen that the No connection at the top of the address table disappears, and then the data of Tx is constantly changing.
Suppose Modbus-Poll still displays a timeout message after following the above steps. In that case, the network port of the external network device may be broken, or the external network device (switch) is broken. Thus, you can change the external network port or change the external network device.
If the above troubleshooting methods cannot help you solve the problem, we can say it is the indicator hardware's problem. You can contact our technical support for help or return to depot.

In some countries, following the regulation, the daily necessities manufacture should build checkweigher at the end of the production line to ensure the product integrity. The underweight and overweight packs can be rejected by different types of rejectors, such as push-type, air blow, swing arms or roller conveyor, etc. Suppose there are several products packed overweight or underweight continually. Welcome to General Measure's channel. Today's topic is GMT-P1 set point demonstration. In the industrial production process, it is necessary to control the equipment according to the weight in some circumstances. At this point, when using GMT-P1, we can use the setpoint to help to realize the control function.
Follow the video or follow the GMT-P1's user manual chapter 4.4 Set Point, we can set the relevant parameter of set point from P1.1 to P1.5. Please refer to the video for detailed steps.
To sum up,
①There are 3 conditions for set point signal output: stable condition, delay time, and condition of validity. The signal will be output only after all the selected conditions are set and satisfied.
②If the delay time is set, the timer starts from the last valid state. If the timing is completed in advance, it will immediately signal after waiting for other conditions to be met. If other conditions are met first, the signal will be output after the timing is completed.
③If more set points are needed to set, we can follow the above step to set relevant parameters.
④If the switch input function of the set point is defined, the state at set point 1 will become an invalid output state when the switch signal is valid. So the current displaying weight needs to be kept in a range that does not meet the set point conditions.
General Measure weighing transmitter GMT-X1, a DIN rail mounted weighing transmitter for industrial automation, can be used in various industrial fields, such as chemical, concrete, and bitumen mixing, metallurgy smelting, lithium battery, feeds, etc.
Through Bluetooth, GMT-X1 can connect to a mobile app called Weasy (available for android systems) for configuration and monitoring. After the weighing transmitter installed on the spot, we need to do the calibration first. But in some fields, the weight scale is far away from the weighing transmitter. To save time and energy, we can use Weasy-app to calibrate the GMT-X1 and make sure it works properly. Moreover, when there is something wrong with the connection between PLC and weighing transmitters, we don’t need to check the weighing transmitter one by one. Just opening weasy-app to check the parameters comparing to PLC, we can easily find out which weighing transmitter is setting error and simply correct it. General Measure’s ChexGo Series Checkweigher CW-60K was built in an automatic packing line with an automatic packing machine at the front and a robot arm at the end.
In the food industry, it is the standard to recheck the weight after the bagging process. For enhancing the efficiency and save the budget, our checkweigher was installed at the end of the production line, collaborating with the automatic packing machine and robot arm, for double-checking the weight of packaging rice. Thus, the underweight and the overweight rice packs will be rejected. Meanwhile, a million data entries are recorded including serial number, time, and result for admin to check errors. The result can be good feedback to the packing machine for adjusting the packing weight and increase the accuracy.

General Measure's GM9907 weighing controller was used on double hopper bulk scale application.
Bulk hopper scales used in the grain storage industry are usually for weighing incoming & outgoing grains. Besides, silo level tracking is widely used for loading trucks or railway cars according to order amounts.
One silo plant in Turkey used double hopper bulk scales for loading trucks according to order weights for deliveries. They used PLC, HMI, and basic transmitters with customized PLC software. But when they weigh trucks after loading with truck scale, there are around 200 – 300 kg differences between the two scales. It is a very problematic situation because they need to deliver trucks according to order, so trucks can turn back to the silo for loading or unloading grains.
Our Turkey partner recovered the system by applying GM9907 that controls double hopper scale work well without PLC. On loading tests, when we compared results between our controller and truck scale, the differences usually limited within 20 kg, and on usage maximum gap is 45kg after few weeks.
This application shows our professional weighing controller efficiency than PLC systems due to high-speed control and validated functions.

To make sure all the weighing indicators work stable in harsh environments, General Measure has tested the weighing indicators by high and low-temperature test, anti-static test, anti-burst test, and anti-lighting surge test in our R&D laboratory. It turns out GM’s products have superior performance.
1. Indicator Low-Temperature Test
Demonstration: After calibrating the weighing indicator, we put it in temp&humi chamber and set the temperature as -40℃. After 3 hours in low temp, we came back to check the working status of the indicator by turning the simulator. The weighing indicator still works as normal with a quick response.
2. Indicator Anti-Static Test
Demonstration: In this test, we prepared the weighing indicator GMT-P1, weighing scale with 30kg full-scale loadcell, and static discharging gun. After connecting the weighing indicator with loadcell and calibrating with 200g weight, we used a static discharging gun to do contact discharging to the metal case of the weighing indicator, then air discharging to the non-metal case, by following the OIML R76 requirements as ±6KV and ±8KV voltage respectively. Mostly, the weighing indicator remains 200g, which is very stable.
3. Indicator Anti-Burst Test
Demonstration: Regarding the anti-burst test, we utilized a fast transient burst simulator and coupling clamp to test the signal end of the weighing indicator. Under the OIML R76 requirement, we set voltage as ±0.5KV to positive and negative pole interfere in 120s respectively. During the test, the weighing indicator kept displaying 200g all the time, which is very stable.
4. Indicator Anti Lightning Surge Test
Demonstration: Talking about anti lightning surge test, the lightning surge generator was connected to the weighing indicator that is connected to the loadcell. In the real experiment, we set voltage as 1KV that is higher than the requirement of OIML R76 (0.5KV), but the result turns out that the weighing indicator is very stable without any display variation.
Through the results from the above 4 tests, we are very proud to introduce our stable weighing indicators to the clients and industry.
